I remember my first job. There was this gorgeous guy working there and the only problem was I had never talked to him… but I knew I wanted him. Every day I wore my most revealing clothes, flashed my legs whenever he was about and caked my face in makeup. I did this for two months without even talking to him and he didn’t even notice me.

Then one day I thought all my birthdays had come at once. Here I was standing in the lift with him. The next thing I did I will never forget until the day I die. I jumped up at him and kissed him full blown on the lips.

The poor bloke nearly had a heart attack. I told him I had been after him for ages but that he hadn`t even noticed me. He exploded shouting that he had seen me and thought that I had been acting like a tart and that he was married but even if he wasn`t I wouldn`t stand a chance.

Well, I slapped him for the insult, walked out and never returned. This funny incident taught me a valuable lesson – just be yourself (oh, and find out if he`s married!).

Virtually everyone has been dumped at some time in their life. I know I have and I know how much it hurts. Rejection is like a severe pain, something twisting your insides. You may even feel nausea, headaches and even sickness. You may even find that for some reason you are subject to every cold and bug within a mile of you. Picking up the pieces is very tough.

You will wish that your life could go back to the way it was before he left and you will live in hope that he will return. You may even feel that nobody will ever want you and that you will never find love again. This is of course nonsense but you will not realise it until the day you are finally over him.

So, how can you get over the pain? How can you learn to live again? How can you stop feeling that you are unlovable and unwanted and that fate has marked you out for a lifetime of solitude, misery and bad luck? How can you start to enjoy your new single life and start to have some fun?
